Pharmacology

The Pharmacology Department has since developed into a fully-fledged department with comprehensive teaching programs for undergraduate students in MBBS, BDS, and Post Graduate students in MD & MDS. At MES Medical College we take immense pride in our Pharmacology Department, where a world of innovation and excellence unfolds. We are committed to advancing the science and practice of Pharmacology, delivering high-quality education, fostering research, and promoting pharmaceutical safety through our recognized Pharmacovigilance Center.

In 2011, the Medical Council of India granted permission to start postgraduate courses leading to the award of an MD Degree in Pharmacology from the Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS). Currently, two students are pursuing an MD Pharmacology degree in the department. The department actively encourages research work by both the staff and students, resulting in several papers presented at various academic conferences at both the national and international levels.

Research and Publications

Research is at the heart of our department. We are involved in various research projects that push the boundaries of Pharmacology. Our faculties and students regularly contribute to publications, adding to the body of knowledge in this field. We stay updated with the latest happenings in our department. We regularly host seminars, journal clubs, and conferences.

Our department has a rich history of academic excellence and a clear vision for the future. Our mission is to provide comprehensive pharmaceutical education, conduct cutting-edge research, and ensure the safety of medications. Our commitment to excellence is exemplified by the successfully conducted CME (Continuing Medical Education) event we hosted last year. This event brought together experts, scholars, and enthusiasts to share knowledge and advancements in the field.

Pharmacovigilance Center

We are proud to host a nationally recognized Pharmacovigilance Center, dedicated to monitoring and reporting adverse effects of pharmaceutical products. We receive ADR reports from various hospital departments and send them to the PVPI through VigiFlow on a monthly basis. Through our vigilant efforts, we contribute to the safety of countless patients and ensure the highest standards of drug safety. Additionally, our AMC Center conducts various awareness programs.

Pharmacovigilance Awareness Week

We celebrated Pharmacovigilance Awareness Week with zeal and fervor. This week-long event was a platform to educate, engage, and promote Pharmacovigilance awareness. We organized quiz competitions, seminars, poster designing competitions, and interactive sessions that highlighted the significance of drug safety and encouraged active participation from healthcare professionals, students, and the community.
