The Department of Community Medicine at MES Medical College stands as a pillar of comprehensive healthcare services and public health dedication. With a full-fledged team of committed professionals, our department combines the expertise of professors, associate professors, assistant professors, senior residents, junior residents, tutors, postgraduates, medical officers, health inspectors, health educators, public health nurses, and medico-social workers. The Department of Community Medicine is dedicated to achieving excellence in teaching and training, research and provision of health services to the community in coordination with the state health machinery. The department’s effort is to involve all stakeholders in providing comprehensive continuing community-based teaching, training, and research for undergraduates and postgraduates, thereby providing community orientation to health experts of all cadres. This unique blend of academic and clinical engagement enables us to address the evolving healthcare needs of the society, incorporating the latest medical knowledge and compassionate care.
At the heart of our efforts are the urban and rural health centers, serving as satellite centers for our work. Through these centers, we strive to provide equitable access to healthcare and foster healthier communities. The Department of Community Medicine is housed in the MES Medical College building state-of-the-art learning resources and infrastructure that caters to the learning needs of undergraduates, postgraduates, and other allied courses like BSc (MLT), MSc (Nursing), etc. There is a museum with a wide collection of study materials and specimens related to public health. The Department Library has a rich collection of resources that includes journals, books, and completed theses.
Demonstration Rooms
One demonstration room of 67 sq. mts. accommodating 75 students each and equipped with appropriate audio-visual aids, (1 OHP & 1 LCD projector) add to the teaching ambiance of the department.
Laboratory Rooms
Laboratory with an area of 202 sq.mt, accommodating 75 students and equipped with water supply, sinks, electric point, and cupboard for storage of microscope, slides etc.
Museum
The excellent museum spread over 137 Sq.mt exhibits more than 250 specimens and models which are arranged according to topics like nutrition, immunization, family planning, disinfectants, insecticides, substance abuse, environment and sanitation and public health important drugs. The museum also displays public health important charts, posters and catalogs.
Departmental Library-cum-Seminar Room
Department library with a total surface area of 33 Sq.mt. having collections of 237 exclusive books on public health and biostatistics for departmental reference.
Research Laboratory
One research lab of 50 sq.mt area equipped with advanced instruments related with public health and for research purpose. It also displays important charts of public health importance. Research lab will conduct experiments and research related
