Forensic Medicine

Forensic Medicine is a branch of Medicine, which teaches the application of every branch of medical knowledge to the purposes of the law. Toxicology is a branch that deals with properties, actions, toxicity, lethal dose estimation, and treatment of poisonings. Department is committed to advance merit in the field of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology through education, research, and expert medico legal services.

Undergraduate Programs:offer services to undergraduate students
MBBS
Understanding medico-legal responsibilities of physicians in primary and secondary care settings, rational approach to the investigation of crime, based on scientific and legal principles.
Understanding the medico-legal framework of medical practice and medical negligence, codes of Conduct and Medical Ethics.Academic sessions on medical law and ethics, help them understand their rights, duties and privileges as a doctor.
Demonstrate the examination of the injured and furnishing wound certificate, post-mortem examination, management of poisoning cases etc.
Ability to manage medical and legal issues in cases of poisoning.
Moot Courts conducted here generate knowledge regarding court proceedings in general and help them to behave as an expert witness
Continuing Education: conducting workshops and training for professionals in the field.

Research:
Department is involved in medico legal research with interdepartmental ongoing research projects, publications, and collaborative efforts in the following areas:

Autopsy Block

Autopsy room with facilities for conducting medicolegal autopsy having cold storage of cadavers, two autopsy tables, accommodation capacity for 10-15 students and waiting hall. The appropriate MoU with Govt. District Hospital has been obtained to facilitate the training of undergraduate students.
